James Elder

James embarked on his DJ journey in 1996 with a residency at Bobby McGee’s in Canberra. The diverse musical landscape of the club exposed him to everything from rock, 70s disco and funk to 80s, R & B and top 40 hits. Adapting to the varied audiences, he honed the skill of reading crowds and seamlessly traversing between genres. However, his affinity for, and the allure of, the underground scene drew him deeper into Canberra’s rave and club culture. Developing a distinct style marked by emotive epic-house and progressive house sounds, James landed a residency at the esteemed Heaven nightclub, a bastion of creative expression, for the revered Positive nights, solidifying his presence within the local scene. James had the privilege of sharing stages with notable artists like Anthony Pappa, Phil K, and Sonic Animation, a testament to his growing reputation. His musical pursuits extended internationally, from orchestrating his own London parties to captivating audiences within an abandoned Florentine monastery, his trajectory has etched a vibrant path across Sydney, Canberra, and beyond. Over the past six years, James has partnered with Shaun Strudwick (UK) to co-host Quarks & Quaaludes on Saturo Sounds radio. The show celebrates the essence of deep, melodic, and progressive house, offering a platform for cutting-edge artists and their evolving sounds. James’ story remains grounded and sincere, reflecting his enduring passion for music and connection with his audience. With each performance, he paints an authentic narrative, inviting listeners to join him on a musical journey
