BiggyWaWa

Will has had an entirely healthy obsession with electronic music for most of his life, the early part of which was mainly spent spinning Michael Jackson’s Bad and his parents’ ABBA vinyl collection on the 70s-made turntable that survives in full working condition to this day. From about the age of 9 most pocket money went on Dance Mania cassettes and Kiss Radio CD compilations, paving the way for the inevitable first set-up of Gemini XL-500 MK II turntables and a citronic mixer (with those epic punch buttons) when he was 17. Fast forward a few years of mostly bedroom mixing but some school and uni gigs, including one successful spin at Snafu in Aberdeen, he took the plunge into DJ Academy in Edinburgh, learning from the likes of local techno dons Nicky Green and Kev Fraser as well as DMC legend Richie Ruftone. This cemented the ability to construct and deliver a more-than-decent set and, while the DMC skills may have left with lack of practice, most of what Will delivers today is inspired by that learning experience. Again, the DJing stayed in the background, with sets being recorded and regularly uploaded online but relatively few live appearances, and life, family and work took over until, like so many DJs coming through these days, lockdown hit and Will found Twitch, and BiggyWaWa was born. Initially livestreaming chilled sunset sets for pals over Facebook, he made the leap into livestreaming with the support of Anjunafamily LA, Trance Family Canada (now Electronic Global Family) and North UK Anjuna Family as well as a few unaffiliated individuals and now plays a variety of genres from Deep House through to Hard House via Progressive House, Techno, Trance etc. He is a resident DJ for It’s Never Too Late Events in Scotland, as well as Seriously Uplifting in Newcastle. BiggyWaWa has been part of the Saturo family since 2022 and uses his monthly show “Unusual Activity” to explore some of the genres that he doesn’t reach as often as he’d like, with a big focus on breaks along with a smattering of different house genres, bassline and DnB. He never likes to do the same thing twice as he travels through the new sounds, so jump in at 8pm UK on the first Tuesday of each month for something a wee bit different!
